Chocolate Dipped Cookies {bite sized} and a Giveaway!!!

Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Cookies

I wanted to let you all know my little old food blog known as Shugary Sweets turned one years old this month. I began blogging many years before, just to share pictures and stories with family and friends. Then in January of last year I began sharing recipes. In April of 2011, I purchased my domain name and officially began food blogging on a regular basis on my new blog, Shugary Sweets.

Over the last few days I’ve posed this silly question to all of you…and I received some funny responses. Here are some of your answers, plus a few of my own…

“You Might Be a Food Blogger If….”

…the dust in your kitchen is actually flour (or powdered sugar in my case)

…your children often ask if the treat has been photographed or can they eat it yet

…dinner is cold because you were trying to get the right picture

…you plan vacations around food stops (Carlo’s Bakery??)

…you spend more time “talking” to online blog friends than you do your neighbors

…you buy cute straws, to use at props not for drinking out of

…you skip past an entire post just to get to the giveaway (hello?? anyone there???)

One lucky winner will win some of my favorite Pampered Chef spices. Before I became a food blogger I sold Pampered Chef (yep, little known fact). I’m giving you all lots of chances to win (but you have to be a US Resident, sorry)!

TO ENTER:
Leave a comment on this post finishing this sentence, “you might be a food blogger if…” OR tell me one of your favorite seasonings!

Official Rules: Open to US residents only . Must be over 18. Giveaway will end on April 29, 2012 at 8:00 pm (Eastern Time). One winner, with a valid entry, will be selected using random.org. Winner will be notified by email and will have 48 hours to claim their prize or another winner will be selected.
GOOD LUCK FRIENDS!
Now for the recipe. I made these sweet little chocolate chip cookies bite sized. Okay, two bite. Then, I went one more step and dunked their little bottoms in chocolate. Because why not? And if you don’t want 11 dozen cookies, you can easily cut this recipe down…or freeze them!

Chocolate Dipped Cookies {bite sized} and a Giveaway!!!

Yield: 11 dozen MINI cookies

Ingredients

  • 1½ cup Crisco (butter flavored)
  • 2½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 egg
  • 3½ cup flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 pinches of nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 18 oz milk chocolate morsels
  • 24 oz chocolate candy bark, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Combine crisco, sugar, milk and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients and combine thoroughly. Add in morsels.
  2. To make these bite sized, I used a small one tablespoon scoop.
  3. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-11 minutes, until lightly browned on top. Of course, I recommend using a stone to cook these on, to get even browning.
  4. Cool completely. Melt chocolate bark according to package directions. Dip bottoms of cookies in chocolate and lay (chocolate side down) directly on parchment paper. Allow to set (about 15 minutes). Store covered.

you might be a food blogger if…

you start dinner at 2pm if you have the opportunity to, just so you can get good lighting & dinnertime pics :)

…if you have 45 pictures of the same food item, but still haven’t captured the “perfect” angle. I’m not a serious food blogger, but I laughed about the one you posted about the kids asking if they can eat it yet. Congrats on your one year birthday! I already follow you here and Pinterest–love them both!

So many spices, I’ve been using a lot of cumin lately. Such a lovely earthy flavor. Add about 1/4 tsp to quacamole, it gives it a whole new taste. Also use white pepper. It gives things a mysterious flavor that everyone tries to figure out. I love spices.
