Pretzel Candy with Pumpkin flavored Hershey Kisses and either candy corn or sixlets. YUM

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for simple ideas for gift giving around the holidays! There are many people in our lives that I am so grateful for, and I enjoy thanking each and every one of them with a gift! However, with four kids, that equates to a lot of teachers, Sunday School leaders, neighbors, friends, etc!

One thing I love to do is make homemade treat jars! You can use any kind of jar on hand. Mason jars work great! I found this mini jars at IKEA several years ago (they still sell them) and use them to fill with candies, nuts, and other goodies!

These pretzel bites are even easy enough for children to help make!

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 4 minutes
Additional Time: 1 hour

Instructions

  • Lay pretzels rings on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Put one hershey kiss inside each ring (if it doesn’t fit perfect that is okay, it will melt).
  • Bake in a 200 degree oven for about 4 minutes. Press chocolate chip on top of kiss. Allow to cool and set one hour. Store in air tight containers!

Notes

  • **kisses may appear unmelted by retaining their shape. Test one by pressing a chocolate chip onto the top. It should press right down. If it’s still hard, wait another minute or two and test again. **For more flavors, try using Pumpkin Kisses and candy corn (or sixlets) for Fall.

  1. I make these every year and give them as gifts.  Everyone loves them! I put mine in the freezer (or outside when it’s below 32 degrees) for about 5 -10 minutes and they harden enough to use a spatula to remove from the cookie sheet. I use wax paper on a cookie sheet and they come off easily. Don’t leave them in the freezer too long.  Putting them in the grudge hasn’t worked for me. I use the Holiday M&Ms on top and alternate green and red. I live in Nashville, TN and can’t find pretzel rings anywhere. We go home to Michigan every year for Thanksgiving so stop at Meijer before we head home to stock up on the pretzel rings.

  2. eeek, no one has my problem. sure, couldn’t find pretzel rings, (checked all the places listed, that are in my area) but used gluten free pretzel rings. NBD

MY PROBLEM: they won’t harden!!! I made them quickly, left for two hours, came back and they’re still soft and sticky! :/ I needed to sack these up for a classroom treat tomorrow and I can’t even touch them, let alone put them in a treat sack. arg.

Not sure how to fix it, but if this happened to you, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. ha ha.

    1. That’s really odd! Did you use Hershey Kisses or Rolos as your candy to melt? Those harden right up (you can also speed harden them in the fridge).

  3. I have been to 11 different stores, 2 Walmarts, 2 Targets, Family Dollar, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar Tree, and 2 HEBs and World Market. No one carries the round pretzels. I found some thin pretzels shaped in hearts and diamonds at World Market. I even sent a request to Snyder Hanover on the internet to find where they might be ( no response).

    1. I found them at either costco or sams club see my post 12/23/13 near top of comment page. I also have purchased them at the Jewel/Osco grocery store.
