With active kids in sports, we stock up regularly on chocolate milk. It’s always been my kids go-to after sport drink, as a way to fuel up their bodies. I don’t know about you, but any excuse to drink chocolate milk is a win in my book.

Don’t be fooled though by imitation chocolate milk, I’ve made that mistake. No more though. I recently discovered Promised Land Midnight Chocolate Milk and we are forever in love. It’s so thick and creamy, like a milkshake! My daughter said it tastes like melted ice cream! Which isn’t surprising since Promised Land Dairy started out as an ice cream company! Promised Land Dairy is made with natural chocolate flavors and the highest quality of cocoa, giving it that sweet, indulgent flavor your family will love. As a mom of teens, I love that it’s higher in calcium and protein, free from hormones, and has a taste my kids will enjoy.

While debating what to make using this decadent flavor of milk, I thought about making one of those molten lava cakes. Only my problem is I can never get them to turn out. So I opted for one BIG fudgy chocolate dessert instead.

If you’ve ever eaten a fruit cobbler, you’ll know that the bottom of the dish is filled with whatever fruit you enjoy. Then it’s topped with the cobbler (the cake, the bread, the biscuit like topping). Right?

Well, today’s Chocolate Cobbler is just like that. The rich, chocolate fudge sauce on the bottom is topped with the chocolate cobbler (brownie-like) topping! This is sure to satisfy your chocolate cravings. Serve it up with a glass of Promised Land Midnight Chocolate Milk and I’d say you have one fudgy dessert ahead of you!

A few tips about making this Chocolate Cobbler:

  • Brush your melted butter around the bottom of your baking dish. Everything good begins with butter! I always use an unsalted butter, that way I can control the amount of salt in my food.
  • For the brownie-like cobbler, combine the sugars, cocoa, flour, Promised Land Midnight Chocolate Milk, baking powder, and salt. This will be very thick. Do not over mix. Drop the dough on top of the melted butter, DO NOT STIR them together.
  • For the chocolate sauce, combine your sugars and cocoa in a bowl. Sprinkle this all over the top of the cobbler. Sprinkle with pecans. You’ll love that sweet and salty flavor the pecans give to this dish, adding in a true southern touch! Pour your hot water over the top (DO NOT STIR).
  • Carefully put the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes. The center will be jiggly, that’s okay! Remove from oven and cool about 15 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
