These Slow Cooker Beer Brats are the easiest dinner idea with only ten minutes prep work! My husband said these are better than on the grill!

Ingredients

  • 8 fresh bratwurst sausages
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt, divided
  • 2 teaspoons montreal steak seasoning, divided
  • 1 red pepper, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 24 ounce beer (I used two cans of Modelo)
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 french rolls

Instructions

  1. Place the bratwurst in a grill pan, or skillet, on medium high heat. Sprinkle 1 tsp of garlic salt and 1 tsp of steak seasoning over the brats.
  2. Cook for 5 minutes on each side.
  3. Add the vegetables and bratwurst to your slow cooker. Top with beer, water, and remaining 1 tsp garlic salt and 1 tsp steak seasoning. Cover and heat on low for 6-8 hours (or high for 3-4 hours).
  4. Serve on a french roll and enjoy!

Notes

  • Don't have brats? Swap out the bratwurst with another style of German sausage such as Frankfurters.
  • Feel free to mix up the colors of the bell peppers. Red, orange, green and yellow peppers are all delicious!
  • The sausage doesn't need to be cooked through when you add it to the slow cooker. It should be brown and charred on the outside. The inside will finish cooking in the slow cooker.
