Want to make your own homemade Apple Cider? It's easy when you use the Instant Pot. Learn how to make apple cider from scratch to sip all autumn long.

Ingredients

  • 6 apples, quartered
  • 2 oranges, quartered
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • ⅔ cup cranberries, fresh or frozen
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • Water – enough to submerge the fruit (about 4 ½ cups)

Instructions

    1. Mix together all the ingredients in the inner pot of the Instant Pot. Secure the lid and make sure the valve on top is set to "SEALING"
    2. Select HIGH PRESSURE or manual function and a cook time of 15 minutes.
    3. Allow the pressure to release naturally, about 15 minutes. Open the lid and allow the cider to cool slightly.
    4. Using a mesh strainer, remove the spices. With a potato masher, smash the fruit to release as much flavor as possible.
    5. Sieve the cider through a muslin or fine mesh strainer and discard the pulp.
    6. Sweeten the cider by adding a bit of honey or brown sugar.
    7. Serve with fruit slices and cranberries. Can be served hot or cold.

Notes

  • Spike the cider by adding in a desired amount of brandy or bourbon.
  • No need to peel or seed the fruit, as you'll be straining the cider after it's done cooking.
  • If you prefer your cider on the sweeter side, try Fuji, Gala or Cortland apples.
  • For cider with a little more tartness, Pink Lady, Honey Crisp and Braeburn are awesome. If you like snacking on it raw, chances are good you're going to like it when it's turned into cider.
