Chocolate Cobbler

This classic, southern Chocolate Cobbler recipe has a rich, fudgy sauce topped with a decadent brownie-like topping!

Ingredients

For the first layer:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 3 Tableespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup chocolate milk

For the top layer:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  •  ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cup hot water
  • ¼ cup pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt butter and pour it into the bottom of an 8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, for the first layer, combine the sugar, cocoa, flour, baking powder, salt, and chocolate milk. Mix just until blended. Drop into the baking dish, DO NOT STIR into the butter.
  3. For the top layer, combine sugar and cocoa in a bowl. Sprinkle over cobbler. Sprinkle with pecans, optional. Pour hot water over the top (DO NOT STIR).
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, the center will be quite jiggly. Allow to cool about 15 minutes then serve warm with vanilla ice cream! ENJOY.
