Easy to make and unbelievably tasty, Buttermilk Syrup is a stack of pancake's perfect match. This simple homemade pancake syrup is only 5 ingredients and takes a couple of minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Instructions

    1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, buttermilk, and butter. Cook until mixture boils, then boil for one full minute.
    2. Remove from heat and add in vanilla and baking soda. The mixture will foam and bubble. ENJOY over pancakes.

Notes

  • Storage: Your homemade buttermilk syrup will keep well stored tightly covered in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. I like to keep it in a mason jar with the lid screwed on or in a tupperware container.
  • Reheating: Reheat leftovers for a few seconds in the microwave to soften and warm the syrup again before serving. You can also transfer it back to a small saucepan to reheat for a minute or so on the stove top, just be careful not to bring it to a boil again.
