Homemade Chocolate Chip Waffles are easy to make and have buttery, crispy edges and a fluffy interior, plus plenty of chocolate chips scattered throughout. A great way to start the day!
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. This can also be stored and made ahead for later.
In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Fold in chocolate chips.
Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and whisk until combined. Let sit for several minutes while iron heats up.
Spray waffle iron with baking spray before the FIRST batch only, unless it's well seasoned. Ladle into preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown. For the "DASH" brand, this will be about 3- 3 ½ minutes each.
Serve and enjoy.
Notes
For a lighter, belgian style waffle, spearate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Add the egg yolks as directed in step 3. Beat the egg whites in a clean dry bowl until stiff peaks form. Fold the egg whites into the batter, then add chocolate chips. Proceed as directed
Mini chocolate chips can also be used. Serve waffles with more melted chocolate, syrup, powdered sugar, berries, and more!
