2bagsfreeze dried strawberries(0.7 ounce each bag)
1teaspoonvanilla extract
6cupsRice Krispies cereal
Instructions
In a food process (or blender), process ONE bag of the freeze dried strawberries until fine crumbs. Set aside.
Line a 9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper. Set it aside.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, add butter. Once melted, add in all but 1 cup of the mini marshmallows. Reduce heat to low and stir constantly until melted.
Remove from heat and add in the processed freeze dried strawberry crumbs and vanilla extract. Stir until combined,
Add the cereal and remaining 1 cup of marshmallows and the second bag of freeze dried strawberries. Fold everything gently until all the cereal has been coated. Pour into prepared pan.
Allow to set about one hour before cutting.
Notes
Make sure your marshmallows and cereal are fresh. If you're starting with stale ingredients, your treats will taste stale.
DO NOT PRESS these treats into the pan. The more your press down, the harder they get. I will wet my fingers with water and press GENTLY until the tops are even.
Store in airtight container for three days. These do not freeze well.
Freeze dried strawberries can be substituted for other freeze dried berries. Do not use fresh or frozen berries.
