Marinated steak that's grilled to perfection and served on tortillas, Carne Asada is a Mexican classic. This Carne Asada can be made at home right on the grill or stove top!

Ingredients

For the steak

  • 1 ½ pounds flank steak
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced
  • 1 lime, zested and juiced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. In a large ziploc bag, combine olive oil, salt, pepper, orange zest and juice, lime zest and juice, garlic, cilantro, worcestershire sauce, cumin, and chili powder. Shake until combined, add the steak, and refrigerate for 3 hours (or up to 24 hours).
  2. Heat grill to medium high. Discard marinade and grill the steak for 5-7 minutes on each side (for medium rare).
  3. All the steaks to rest for 10 minutes before thinly slicing against the grain.
  4. Serve on a tortilla with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Serve with corn or flour tortillas, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc.
  • If you don't have access to a grill, cook the steak in a large skillet over high heat for the same amount of time, until desired doneness.
  • Carne Asada is traditionally used with flank steak or skirt steak. Cook until medium rare to avoid a chewy texture.
