Aimee’s Recipe Notes

Taste & Texture: Crispy chicken, gooey cheese, flavorful marinara, and soft buttery sweet rolls in every bite!

Prep-Friendly: Use frozen chicken patties or breaded chicken tenders to reduce the cook time. Air fry or oven bake in advance!

Budget Tip: Use store-brand marinara and chicken tenders to keep this recipe wallet friendly. Stock up on items when on sale!

Storage: Keep leftovers in airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven for best texture.

Top Tip: Don’t skip the garlic butter topping for golden, flavorful Italian bread!

Here’s a quick highlight of some of the ingredients you’ll need for today’s chicken parmesan sandwiches. Scroll down to the recipe card for full measurements.

  • Chicken Patties- choose your favorite style of chicken. I’ve even used my grilled chicken tenders for this sandwich. Nuggets or tenders work great too. Fried chicken (not on a bone) is perfect too.
  • Mozzarella Cheese- I prefer using slices of mozzarella cheese. Fresh mozzarella or shredded mozzarella, and even provolone cheese will work great too.
  • Marinara sauce- I love Rao’s sauce, it’s flavorful and thick, but of course pick your favorite flavor and brand.
  • Hawaiian Sweet Rolls- I love the original sweet rolls. You could also buy slider buns, small pretzel rolls, or even hoagies!
  • Parmesan Cheese- fresh grated parmesan cheese has the best flavor for this sliders recipe.
  • Melted Butter- add garlic salt (or garlic powder) and Italian seasoning to a bowl with the melted butter. This will get brushed on the buns before baking.

Cook the patties and assemble.

  • Spread marinara on the bottom half of the slider buns.
  • Layer with cooked chicken patties, tenders, or nuggets.

Add cheese and bake.

  • Add the remaining sauce and sliced mozzarella cheese.
  • Place the top bun over the cheese and spread garlic butter over the bun. Bake!

Tips and Tricks

  • Use chicken tenders if patties are too big, 2 tenders per slider works perfectly.
  • Don’t skip the foil lining in your baking dish, makes cleanup a breeze.
  • Double the garlic butter if you love a saucy, buttery top (who doesn’t?).
  • Add a kick by sprinkling red pepper flakes over the sauce layer.
  • Keep warm by covering loosely with foil after baking if you’re serving at a party.
  • Batch-friendly – Easily double the recipe and use a sheet pan for a crowd.

These Chicken Parmesan Sliders are the ultimate weeknight shortcut or game day snack. Crispy chicken patties, mozzarella cheese, and garlic butter baked on sweet Hawaiian rolls.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 12 sliders

Ingredients

  • 6 frozen chicken patties, cooked
  • 12 Kings Hawaiian sweet slider buns
  • 22 ounce jar Marinara sauce, about 2 1/2 cups, separated
  • 6 ounces sliced mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, divided

Instructions

  • Cook chicken patties according to package directions. Use your favorite patty or tender you prefer.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 13×9 baking dish with foil. Set it aside.
  • Without separating the rolls, slice the sliders in half. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the baking dish.
  • Spoon half of the marinara sauce on the bottom bun. Top with the cooked chicken patties. Add the other half of the sauce, then the slices of cheese. Followed by the top bun.
  • Melt butter in small bowl in the microwave. Whisk in the garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and half of the parmesan cheese. Brush mixture over the top of the sliders.
  • Bake sliders for 15-20 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining 1 Tablespoon of parmesan cheese. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • Cook the chicken patties ahead of time in the oven or air fryer. Chicken tenders can also be used.
  • For the mozzarella, use the sandwich style sliced mozzarella for best results. However, you could use fresh sliced mozzarella for an incredibly cheesy slider.
  • I prefer Hawaiian sweet rolls, but any style sliders works great.
  • Store leftover sliders in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or airfryer until warm.
