Fluffernutter Rice Krispie Treats

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats topped with melted Reese’s PB morsels and mini Reese’s PB cups. A delicious twist on a childhood favorite!

Fluffernutter Krispie Treats: a delicious chocolate peanut butter and marshmallow treat, easy and no bake too! #reeses

So my schedule is quite overwhelming right now. I’m not even going to describe or complain because I’m sure you all have had times in your life when things were so busy you couldn’t even look at the calendar without throwing a tantrum. Right?

Then I realized it has been MONTHS since I shared a Rice Krispie treat recipe on the blog. And that, my friends, is unacceptable. I apologize.

I also apologize for eating way more than my share of these treats. I started out by making peanut butter flavored krispie treats. Then added some extra marshmallows to give them a true fluffernutter feeling.

But they looked naked. And I don’t mind eating naked rice krispie treats…but when life is overwhelming you need more. So I topped them with some melted Reese’s peanut butter morsels and some mini Reese’s peanut butter cups.

Life is good.

Fluffernutter Rice Krispie Treats

Rating: 51

Prep Time: 1 hour

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 32 squares

  • 10oz bag regular sized marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 5 cup Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 1/4 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 bag (10oz) Reese's peanut butter morsels, melted
  • 2 bags (8oz each) Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Cups

  1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows and turn heat to low. Stir until completely smooth. Remove from heat and quickly stir in peanut butter. Add cereal.
  2. Fold in the mini marshmallows. Pour Krispies treats into a 9inch square baking dish lined with parchment paper (or buttered foil). DO NOT PRESS them in tightly. Just very gently even the top of the treats (I use the butter wrapper or marshmallow bag wrapper to press it in). Spread melted peanut butter morsels over the top.
  3. Top the melted peanut butter morsels with the peanut butter cups. Press those in so they stick! Allow to set, about one hour. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container. ENJOY.

This delicious krispie treat recipe was inspired by one of my favorite fudge recipes. Fluffernutter Fudge!

I seriously love how mile-high thick your rice krispies are. That is a type of rice krispy i would love to have. I hate the ones that are low and skimp on the thickness! Haha :) fluffernutter – way to go with this flavor combo!!

So, fluffernutters and Reese’s are two of my favorite things. Like, ever. But then you go and throw them in a krispies treat? I mean, yes. How could I not eat the whole pan?

    • posted Apr 11, 2013 at 10:22 pm

It’s totally logical that you would. Sadly, I already ate them. All.

Why oh why don’t we live next door to each other? This 3 hour gap is killing me!! I am so overwhelmed right now too, and I think some of these delicious and incredible krispies would be just what I need to get over that. We need to plan our next get together…you bring these and I’ll come eat them!!!

  25. posted Apr 11, 2013 at 12:05 pm

Fluffernutters are my favorite! Is there really any better flavor combination? And the fact that you topped these with mini Reese’s makes this the ultimate RKT. I’m usually not a fan of plain ol’ RKT because they are just ok. But when you add peanut butter, more marshmallows, peanut butter chips, and Reese’s into the mix, then I’m dying the eat the entire pan!

    • posted Apr 11, 2013 at 10:24 pm

If you’re going to indulge, might as well go all the way!!

By “Reese’s peanut butter morsels” do you mean just Reese’s Pieces or do the morsels not have the “shell” on the outside? I don’t think I’ve seen them here (in Canada) but I haven’t looked at the Bulk Barn yet… they may have something like that. Reese’s ANYTHING and Fluffernutter ANYTHING are my favorites also.

I made these and they are delicious. I have one question. Do your mini peanut butter cups melt? Mine started melting as soon as I put them on.

These are great. However, in the recipe above, I think you left out the step where you melt the Reese’s Morsels and spread the melted morsels over the top of the cereal mixture, before putting the Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups on top. I figured it out, but it would be helpful to have that step included.

      Hmmm, I see it there.

I agree. Step #2 says pour treats into pan. Then Step #3 goes directly to ‘Top the melted peanut butter morsels with the peanut butter cups.” It never tells you to pour melted peanut butter chips over crispy treats. I figured it out after looking at the photo, but at first I thought maybe the melted chips were supposed to be added in with the creamy peanut butter in step #1.

Oh, goodness! I missed the “melted” part in the ingredients list and was expecting a step telling me to do that. My bad. I guess I was so excited to make these I read too fast. So sorry! And they were wonderful. A keeper. Thanks!

These are awesome but I found I had to add vegetable oil to the melted peanut butter chips because they wouldn’t spread well otherwise. Not sure if any one had this same issue or not?

    • posted May 25, 2014 at 1:58 pm

Hmmm, I occasionally have had trouble melting my PB chips too. The key is to heat them slowly. Glad they turned out good in the end :)
