So my schedule is quite overwhelming right now. I’m not even going to describe or complain because I’m sure you all have had times in your life when things were so busy you couldn’t even look at the calendar without throwing a tantrum. Right?

Then I realized it has been MONTHS since I shared a Rice Krispie treat recipe on the blog. And that, my friends, is unacceptable. I apologize.

I also apologize for eating way more than my share of these treats. I started out by making peanut butter flavored krispie treats. Then added some extra marshmallows to give them a true fluffernutter feeling.

But they looked naked. And I don’t mind eating naked rice krispie treats…but when life is overwhelming you need more. So I topped them with some melted Reese’s peanut butter morsels and some mini Reese’s peanut butter cups.

Life is good.

Fluffernutter Krispie Treats

Yield: 32

Prep Time: 1 hour

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats topped with melted Reese’s PB morsels and mini Reese’s PB cups. A delicious twist on a childhood favorite!

Ingredients:

  • 10oz bag regular sized marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 5 cup Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 1/4 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 bag (10oz) Reese's peanut butter morsels, melted
  • 2 bags (8oz each) Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Cups

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows and turn heat to low. Stir until completely smooth. Remove from heat and quickly stir in peanut butter. Add cereal.
  2. Fold in the mini marshmallows. Pour Krispies treats into a 9inch square baking dish lined with parchment paper (or buttered foil). DO NOT PRESS them in tightly. Just very gently even the top of the treats (I use the butter wrapper or marshmallow bag wrapper to press it in). Spread melted peanut butter morsels over the top.
  3. Top the melted peanut butter morsels with the peanut butter cups. Press those in so they stick! Allow to set, about one hour. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container. ENJOY.

  2. I fell over when I saw these. So not kidding.

  3. No, you cannot have a naked Rice Krispie, that’s like eating cake without frosting! I love all the Reese goodness piled on top!

  4. My husband and daughter (both peanut butter fanatics) would love this!

  5. Whyyyy does everything you post make me want to abandon hopes of fitting in a bathing suit this summer?! 😉

  6. Love these! I am a RKTreat fan, big time! These are so thick and chomp-able. I used mini PB cups in my recipe today too!

These look so tasty! Hope things steady up for you some.

  11. I seriously love how mile-high thick your rice krispies are. That is a type of rice krispy i would love to have. I hate the ones that are low and skimp on the thickness! Haha 🙂 fluffernutter – way to go with this flavor combo!!

  12. This is simply gorgeous! Lovely treats. Pinned!

  13. I hope your crazy calms down soon Aimee! Love these treats. 🙂

  14. My keyboard is now completely covered in drool. Those look fantastic.

  17. I’m so glad you dressed your Rice Krispie treats! They look so outrageously good. I didn’t know I was craving sweets until I saw these. Gah! I need to make these VERY soon!

  18. So, fluffernutters and Reese’s are two of my favorite things. Like, ever. But then you go and throw them in a krispies treat? I mean, yes. How could I not eat the whole pan?

  19. Done and done.. these need to happen to my face, Aimee! I love fluffernutters.. and rice krispies are completely irresistible in my book. Yours couldn’t look more perfect!

  20. You just reminded me it’s been a while since we had rice krispies too… Need to fix that asap! 🙂 These look fabulous, Aimee!

  21. Why oh why don’t we live next door to each other? This 3 hour gap is killing me!! I am so overwhelmed right now too, and I think some of these delicious and incredible krispies would be just what I need to get over that. We need to plan our next get together…you bring these and I’ll come eat them!!!

  22. Fluffernutters are my favorite! Is there really any better flavor combination? And the fact that you topped these with mini Reese’s makes this the ultimate RKT. I’m usually not a fan of plain ol’ RKT because they are just ok. But when you add peanut butter, more marshmallows, peanut butter chips, and Reese’s into the mix, then I’m dying the eat the entire pan!

  23. Oh man look at the depth of those rice krispies! I can make a meal out of this!

  24. Flutternutters are so amazing…and you put them in a krispy treat, amazing! I love everything about this recipe!

  25. you totally wen there didn’t you? Darn it those look delicious!

  26. Oh WOW- those look to die for. Peanutbutter, marshmallows, rice krispies, Reeses- all of my favorite things!

  28. I love peanut butter cups, marshmallows, AND rice crispy treats. I cant wait to try these!

  33. Shelley

Where do you get the Reese’s morsels? I can’t find them anywhere.

  34. Jen

Awwww… I want to try these so badly but I live in Australia! No Reece’s here! 🙁 SAD!! I have never even seen anything similar I could substitute the Peanut Butter Cups! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to admire from a-far or attempt to eat my screen…. Awesome post tho! THANKS!

  35. These look amazing! Peanut butter desserts are my weakness. I cannot wait to try these myself.

  36. I saw these from a mile away… I LOVE anything reeses 🙂

By “Reese’s peanut butter morsels” do you mean just Reese’s Pieces or do the morsels not have the “shell” on the outside? I don’t think I’ve seen them here (in Canada) but I haven’t looked at the Bulk Barn yet… they may have something like that. Reese’s ANYTHING and Fluffernutter ANYTHING are my favorites also.

  38. Maria Willis

I made these and they are delicious. I have one question. Do your mini peanut butter cups melt? Mine started melting as soon as I put them on.

  39. These look amazing! I’ll be bringing them to a Labor Day BBQ. Yum!

  40. Donna Clay

Made these for thanksgiving reunion- they were so amazing that everyone loved them. Thanks for sharing!

  41. Melissa Manley

These are great. However, in the recipe above, I think you left out the step where you melt the Reese’s Morsels and spread the melted morsels over the top of the cereal mixture, before putting the Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups on top. I figured it out, but it would be helpful to have that step included.

  42. Melissa Manley

Oh, goodness! I missed the “melted” part in the ingredients list and was expecting a step telling me to do that. My bad. I guess I was so excited to make these I read too fast. So sorry! And they were wonderful. A keeper. Thanks!

32 squares from a 9″ square pan? Did you mean a 9×13 instead?

  46. Rhonda

These are awesome but I found I had to add vegetable oil to the melted peanut butter chips because they wouldn’t spread well otherwise. Not sure if any one had this same issue or not?
